Dynamic Aging
Many people are now reframing the aging process into a term called "Positive Aging". Part of how you age is physical as well as mental and emotional. There are now studies showing that your thoughts, emotions, and the things you do physically can actually change the aging process even at the cellular level.
One of the things that can affect how you age is your personal environment. Your personal environment is more than just what is in your physical environment. Your personal environment includes things inside yourself as well as out side your self such as what you think about yourself, what you learned from others as you grew up, how your spirituality effects you, how nature impacts you, how your financial situation effects you as well as how your physical space effects you, etc.
To me the aging concept can be related to architecture and building. You always have to have a foundation that is well built. The foundation for some people was well built but others have to go back at sometime in their life and re-create their foundation so they can be more dynamic in the future. Sometimes it can be a process of discovering the places or thoughts that need more support. When you have the support you need then in aging as well as most things you can explore things that interest you as well as hold on to your core values while exploring and changing through out your life.
Remember aging starts at birth not at 40 or 50 years old. When you are 40 or 50 you have learned many things that can either hold you back or propel you in doing new things that keep you vital and dynamic.
I saw a video this morning that to me is one example of how new ideas in architecture can resemble our lives. Click on the link and see how even things we thought were static are now becoming flexible, more interesting and dynamic. http://www.flixxy.com/dubai-dynamic-architecture.htm Notice the solid core and how the rest of the building is supported while changing.
