Break through fear and create your own adventures
The Hallmark Channel had a good, simple, original movie on this week. It is called Annie's Point with Betty White and Richard Thomas. It starts out as a traditional family movie where the son decides he needs to take care of his mother and tries to enlist his daughter's help.
The twist in this story is that the grandmother (Betty White) leads her granddaughter and her son (Richard Thomas) on several adventures (including getting her granddaughter to go skinny dipping).
In a simplistic way the grandmother shows her granddaughter and son how to move through their fears, break out of some of their habits , find courage and live life in the moment.
In the movie things worked out and brought this family closer. For many people though it is hard to get beyond the roles to which they have become accustomed then break out and find the things they really love in life. It is also hard for some people to get past some issues, big or small and reconnect with their loved ones.
Through her granddaughter's encouragement, Annie rediscovers a relationship with her brother with whom she hasn't spoken in years. I think many people can identify with this scenario or something similar. As in the movie, even though you may want to pick up the phone or go for a visit, the fear of rejection or even not knowing what to say holds you back from relationships you long for in some way.
Like in the movie it can be hard to know what to do or where to start so just pick something and go for it (nothing illegal please). If that doesn't work try something else. Not everything will always work the way you want it to but if you just start some where you may find you have many more experiences and opportunities than you ever dreamed of having.
